Updated at: 1102 PST, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 PALMERSTON NORTH: The successful journey of Pakistan under 19 cricket team – the defending champions – is magnificently continued as green shirts have trounced Bangladesh under 19 by four wickets in a close contest here at Palmerston North on Wednesday, Geo news reported.Pakistan are now through to Under-19 World Cup Quarter Finals. Bangladesh winning the toss batted first and managed to put on a fighting 250-run target thanks to double fifties by Mehmood-ul-Hassan and Aman-ul-Haq in allotted 50 overs. In reply, Pakistani openers showed good character contributing 104-run opening stand but no other player could prove formidable for opponents following opening partnership but however, later in the innings, Muhammad Waqas struck 20 runs off last 4 balls taking Pakistan home in 49.5 overs. Two half centuries from Babar Azam and Ahmed Shahzad who knocked 91 and 52 respectively made major contributions in Pakistan innings. |
