Hearing of Dr. Aafia case due from Jan 19 NEW YORK – Sami Ibraham: The Pakistani scientist, detained in United States, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, was produced before a New York Court today but the hearing of her case will formally held from upcoming Tuesday on January 19, Geo news reported.

The judge of a NY federal court declared verdict at a time when the accused Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was herself present on the occasion.

According to the federal court judge, the selection of the jury, due to hold hearing of her case, will kick off from Wednesday, January 13 for conducting the formal hearing of her case.

It may be noted that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has already pleaded not guilty of those allegations under which she is being tried here in a New York Court while she, raising serious questions, has also denied the sincerity of US-based courts.

The advocate of Aafia Siddiqui told court during Monday’s hearing here that her client was not guilty of charges of shooting US forces in Afghanistan which is also evident from the proofs obtained through Forensic Laboratory Examination, proving no prints of her fingers on any pistol, source said.

The court on the occasion was told that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was not hailing from Taliban or any other terrorist outfit. It is, therefore, she will only be prosecuted for attempt to murder charges, sources added further.
