| Zardari for Europe-like Marshall Plan in Pakistan |
Updated at: 1755 PST, Sunday, January 17, 2010 LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Europe-like Marshall Plan should be introduced in Pakistan.Speaking at a reception given in his honour at Governor House here on Sunday he said: “The West is not yet accepting our demands regarding Marshall Plan, but ultimately it will have to agree on this,” he said. He said Pakistan is dealing with several challenges. The president said: “War against terror is our own war. Terrorists are killing our children. They are trying to change our way of lie. But the whole nation is standing shoulder to shoulder with security forces against militancy. He also underlined the need to make collective efforts for steering the country of prevailing crises. “Pakistan is keen to have cordial and economic relations with its neighbors,” he added. The President said that Pakistan was playing a pivotal role against the terrorism, asking the world to provide more resource. He further said that joint efforts should be made to maintain peace in Afghanistan. |
