| POL products import over 49-lack tonnes level |
Updated at: 1207 PST, Friday, December 25, 2009 KARACHI: The import volume of petroleum products (POL) has surged by 23.8 percent from July to November in current fiscal year, meanwhile, the import level has crossed 49 lack tonnes, Geo news reported Friday.According to Federal Statistics Department, a total of $2.39 billion POL products have so far been imported within five months of current fiscal year which remained quiet short of previous year’s statistics as $3.40billion petroleum products were imported last year during same time period. Import volume of POL products saw surge this year by dint of dropping oil prices in international market but import bill also carried dropped oil prices. Moreover, the import of POL products has surged in country also for the want of investment in refineries in this sector, industry sources said. |
